  • 'S Wonderful

Originally arranged by Ray Conniff for the Shaw band and recorded in January 1945, this excellent chart works so well on many levels. It contains a fair number of innovative arrangement techniques: the opening unison Trombone riff, the Tenor doubling lead beneath the Trumpets, the Clarinet leading the Trumpets in the middle eight, a five-part combo in the middle and a great shift to full swing feel after Shaws' glorious solo work (which written out in full). Conniff has taken what is otherwise an arguably slightly dull tune and turned it into a masterpiece. This chart is a must for all Shaw lovers. Mais informação

  • 12th Street Rag

12th Street Rag as you never imagined! It opens by imitating traffic along 12th Street, in a series of dissonant hoots before the band kicks in with the real intro. The chart uses a dixie band-in-band on three occasions, in a different historical jazz style - 20's, 40's and 60's. Interspersed with these are some blasting tutti passages. The whole piece goes through 5 modulations, building all the time. This is a very challenging chart in all sections. Also both Altos and Tenors double Clarinet, and the Bari doubles Alto for his solo (which can be played on Bari instead). Mais informação
  • 920 Special

Version taken from the 1960's & forms part of our Basie series ready for his Centenary in 2004. It features some great sectional work & interplay between Saxes & Trumpets throughout the chart. • A Foggy Day

AUGMENTED BIG BAND VOCAL. This swinging studio orchestra arrangement was written by Billy Byers in May of 1970 for a concert that Sinatra gave at Royal Festival Hall in November of that same year. This is classic Sinatra/Byers - swinging reed figures and punchy brass with string support. We have included a synth part that may be used in the event that your ensemble doesn't have access to string players. This is not a difficult arrangement (except for the brass ranges) and would be fairly easy to work up for a concert. Also, we have included the vocal line as written by Byers. Key of D flat. This enchanting melody originated in a score Carter wrote for television's 'Chrysler Theater' in 1963. It was known as 'Lydia' until Johnny Mercer added a lyric. At a 1973 concert at Princeton University Carter offered the big band version which was recorded in 1986 by the American Jazz Orchestra. Mais informação
  • A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square

Lovingly transcribed by Alan Glasscock from Miller's October 1940 New York recording originally arranged by Bill Finegan and sung by Ray Eberle, this lush chart is classic Miller, full of tonal colour and rich dynamics. The reeds are scored CAATT, with all saxes called upon to double Clarinets. Tenor 2 also has a short Bass Clarinet line underneath the Trombones, but this can be played as written on Tenor. The Tex Beneke solo is written out in full too.  The vocal key is Eb. Mais informação
  • A Shade Of Jade

This arrangement features a lengthy solo for a tenor saxophone soloist. Included are open solo sections so that any number of soloists may be featured. In addition, while there was no guitarist used during the recording sessions, we have included a guitar part as Joe had done in his arrangements. These arrangements will require significant time to work them up, but they would be a amazing for any competition or festival! This has been edited and egraved directly from Joe's original scores and parts - this is not a transcription. Mais informação

As Cyrus' debut single and signature song, it made him famous and has been his most successful song.
