  • Shorty George

Shorty George was first recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra in 1938, proved to be one of his early big hits, & has become a 'must have' tune for Basie fans. It is up tempo swing chart which featured Basie & his three big soloists - Buck Clayton (trumpet), Lester Young (tenor) and Dicky Wells (trombone). We have written out the original solos for you, though your players can improvise on the chords provided too. This arrangement is really punchy & powerful, with some great sectional interplay & big ensemble passages. We have also written in the licks & fills on the drum part. There are no sax doubles.
