Cute is one of the great tracks from the Hefti band of the 1950's & one of a series written & arranged for the band by Neil Hefti similar to that found on The Atomic Mr. Basie album. This is the original Hefti arrangement & not a transcription, & makes a nice show spot for your drummer. There is not a full score with this arrangement, though a Conductor lead sheet is included. A great tune. Listen to a live recording by Basie using link below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb5jDWROk5k Learn More

  • It's Awf'ly Nice To Be With You

This is a great transcription by Jon Harpis of a beautifully conceived Neil Hefti composition written as a ballad solo feature for Marshal Royal.  If your band has an Alto player that you would like to showcase, this is the chart for you. Learn More
  • Li'l Darlin

Li'l Darlin' is one of the great tracks from the Basie band of the 1950's & one of a series written & arranged for the band by Neal Hefti to be found on The Atomic Mr Basie album. This is the original arrangement & not a transcription, & includes fully written out muted 4th Trumpet solo. There is not a full score with this arrangement, though a Conductor lead sheet is included. Listen using the link below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWAMGWmlynI Learn More
  • Scoot

A wonderful chart from the pen of Neal Hefti for the Basie Band of the late 1950's. Scoot is almost all muted & fluted, originally with Frank Wess' flute paired with tightly plugged Trumpets (using a mix of mutes) to generate a relaxed but closely confined sound. The chart is quite quick & will need nimble fingers from your Trumpets, but once they get their fingers round it the chart will snap into place. Learn More
  • Splanky

Splanky is one of the great tracks from the Basie band of the 1950's, and one of a series written and arranged for the band by Neal Hefti to be found on The Atomic Mr Basie album. There is not a full score with this arrangement though a Conductor lead sheet is included. A great tune, and classic Basie! • The Kid From Red Bank

The Kid From Red Bank, a reference to Mr Basie himself, is one of the great tracks from the Basie band of the 1950's, and one of a series written and arranged for the band by Neal Hefti to be found on The Atomic Mr. Basie album. This is the original arrangement and not a transcription, and includes the Piano solo fully written out. There is not a full score with this arrangement, though a Conductor lead sheet is included. A great tune, and classic. To listen use the link below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEUBwiezayE Learn More
  • Whirly Bird

Another beautifully crafted piece from the Basie Band. This chart is a flat-out, driving swing chart that features Piano & Tenor. Basie's solos are written out, but we have left the Tenor solo open, for your player to improvise from the chords. Graded advanced, because of the speed of it, & because the Trumpets need to play up high (lead to a written high F). Originally written for 7 brass, we've added a 4th bone part for completeness. The Bass Trombone is on the 3rd part. There are no Sax doubles. To listen use the link below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucs8CMBSkYg Learn More
